Chuyi earned her PhD in Biomechanics and Motor Control, with a minor in Gerontology, from Purdue University under the mentorship of Drs. Shirley Rietdyk and Satyajit Ambike. She then completed postdoctoral training at Stanford University with Dr. Helen Bronte‑Stewart, where she expanded her research from locomotor control in healthy aging to the pathophysiology of gait impairment and freezing of gait in Parkinson’s disease (PD). At Georgia Tech, Chuyi integrates these foundations to investigate gait changes and deficits in aging and PD, supporting the development of AI‑driven exoskeleton interventions for these populations. Her long‑term goal is to advance technologies that restore or assist gait function for those who have impaired mobility. Outside of lab, Chuyi enjoys swimming, playing tennis, and spending time with her cats.
